I was born in Davie, a small rural town in south Florida, where I have spent the past several years documenting its inhabitants.
This work expands upon the essence of community. In making these moments, I have developed an understanding of my hometown's influence in relation to my individual upbringing.
I believe my firsthand experiences of community contrasts greatly from the majority of my fellow peers in my generation, who instead routinely engage over vast distances via online networks. "Davie" is shot on film, which compliments the aesthetic of my subject matter, both slow and meditative.
Within the leisurely, word-of-mouth communication amongst my neighbors; compared to the rapid motion of social media, I seek to comprehend what generates genuine intimacy –– searching for clarity by photographing the people in my primary environment and in their most comfortable settings.
